Train fares about to increase

The Viet Nam Railway Corporation has decided to increase train fares, starting on August 10, following increases in fuel costs.

The fares for trains between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City will rise by 4% on average, but the prices for non-cushioned and non-air-conditioned seats remain unchanged because these seats are mainly for lower-income travelers.

The fares for air-conditioned beds on the fast trains coded SE between the two cities will increase by 13-15%. Other tickets will go up by 1-15%.

However, the state-run corporation still continues to sell discounted tickets for travels from September 15 to December 15.
