A new Can Tho – Phnom Penh sea route is expected to come into operation late March 2006.

Luxuriously-decorated 120-seat high-speed boat Cawaco 01 can cover 24 nautical miles per hour. The fares are US$45 a passenger for Can Tho – Phnom Penh route and US$35 for Phnom Penh - Can Tho.

There will be one outward and return trip every two days. It will depart at 7.30 A.M from the Ninh Kieu 2 restaurant hotel and will land at Phnom Penh harbor in seven hours, including the time for immigration procedures.

The Vinashin – Can Tho Passenger Boat and Travel company under the Can Tho Waterway Transport and Shipbuilding Company is the first waterway transport company to be allowed to operate the international Can Tho – Phnom Penh route using high-speed boats by Viet Nam’s Ministry of Communications and Transport and Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism.
