| Growth Stimulants for Vegetables Found To Be Bogus | |
Government scientists have tested several supposed super-stimulants for growing vegetables and found that the chemicals have next to no effect on plant growth.
|
| People suspect that farmers use chemicals to make vegetables triple its size in three or four days. Now, the week-long experiment proved the suspect has no grounding in fact |
The week-long testing by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was done in response to rumors that vegetables would be triple the size in three to four days after being sprayed with the supposed stimulants compared to untreated vegetables.
After the experiment finished yesterday, a spokesman for the ministry’s Plant Protection Department said the miracle chemicals did not exist and that the rumors had no grounding in fact.
Still, the experts did concede that the branches of some of the sprayed leafy vegetables eventually grew slightly longer than the untreated plants, but only if the spray remained on the leaves for the whole seven days of testing.
