The Serepok River in Quang Ngai and the Ba River’s lower section in Phu Yen are among several to have risen to alarm levels II and III.
In the central province of Quang Nam, floodwaters have swept away 25 bridges in the districts of Nam Tra My, Bac Tra My, Phuoc Son, and Nong Son, blocking traffic and cutting off many areas.
More than 3,100 houses and 10 schools in the province have been inundated. Around 700 residents in Nong Son, Dai Loc and Tien Phuoc Districts have been moved to safe places.
Nguyen Xuan Tra, 13, remains missing after being swept away by the floods.
In Bai Ong area on Hoi An’s Cu Lao Cham, the coastal border guards rescued three seamen on board a barge which had been swept off the shore after its anchor broke.
In Binh Dinh Province, three people have been killed and six injured in the severe flooding caused by relentless downpours.
More than 200 houses have been destroyed or damaged, 230 classrooms flooded, 18 km of embankments broken, and 58 bridges and drains damaged.
