UNICEF helps disabled children in Dong Nai

A delegation of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), led by deformity specialist Narra Avetissyan, on June 11 worked with southern Dong Nai province’s department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs on disabled children issue.

During its two-day stay in the province, the delegation visited some sheltering establishments and vocational training centres for local disabled children.

The visit is part of a plan that helps the fund work out programmes in accordance with financial and technical assistances given by international deformity experts so as to improve the life of disabled children in Dong Nai.

Dong Nai province has 3,400 handicapped children, of which 1,159 are Agent Orange/dioxin victims.

The UNICEF is implementing a project to provide care and protection of and raise the abilities of disabled children in central Da Nang which also expands to Dong Nai and An Giang provinces.
