Embassy thanks Vietnam for rescuing tourists

Yesterday, the Russian Embassy sent a message to the media to extend its gratitude to the Party and government organizations and agencies, as well as the people for helping Russian tourists injured in the deadly bus crash at the Dai Ninh Pass, Phan Thiet Province March 13.

Deepest thanks were specially given to local people in Bac Binh District, Binh Thuan Province, and workers from the Dai Ninh Hydroelectricity Plant, who were first on the scene, and to the doctors and nurses at Lam Dong Province General Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City, who have devoted time and effort in saving the victims’ lives.

Thanks were also offered to many Vietnamese organs and people that had sent condolences to the embassy to express their deep and sincere sympathy to the families and relatives of the nine dead tourists, and wished the injured a speedy and full recovery.

The embassy also expressed its deepest sympathy to the family of Phan Ba Trinh, tour guide of the trip, who lost his life in the incident.

In related news, on the same day, a team of Russian doctors visited Nguyen Tri Phuong and FV hospitals to identity the dead tourists. They received the bodies that will be flown back to Russia on flight VN 527, Vietnam Airlines.

Also on the same day, Russian Consul General in HCM City, Kikolia D. Ubushiev, visited the Dai Ninh Hydroelectricity Plant to offer thanks to its workers.

He then visited Duc Trong District Medical Center in Lam Dong and Lam Dong Province General Hospital to express his gratitude to doctors and nurses who had treated and saved the injured victims. He also awarded Vietnam-Russian Friendship insignias.

Mr Ubushiev paid a visit to the scene of the accident. He was moved when witnessing local people laying flowers at the site. A small temple is being built there in commemoration of the death.

Same day, representative of Bac Binh District People’s Committee visited Dai Ninh Hydroelectricity Plant to offer certificates of merit to the staff and cash rewards to five workers who directly helped in the rescue.

The Bac Binh District People’s Committee also awarded a certificate of merit and cash reward to Ngo Van Hieu, an official for Toshiba Contractor, who is working at Dai Ninh Hydroelectricity Plant. Mr Hieu was the first to discover the accident and raise the alarm.

Another certificate of merit and reward were given to Than Cong Luan, a local living near the foot of Dai Ninh Pass, who also helped in the rescue.
