Food production is an industry which has advantages and faces competition in 2009, so Vietnam needs to keep rice growing areas stable with around 4 million hectares of arable land and build a rice storage project, the Office of Government said.

A good crop of rice in Mekong Delta

The rice storage project will hold and maintain the quality of 4 millions tons of rice.

The project will be submitted to the government in first quarter of 2009.

This is a directive from to the Prime Minister to the agriculture industry. The document was given by Office of Government to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In the first quarter of this year, The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development needs to submit to the government a preferential credit policy to build a freezing store for preserving aquatic products.
