Boat-shaped coffin unearthed in Ha Tinh

A boat-shaped coffin believed to date back to the 16th or 17th century was unearthed in the central province of Ha Tinh, a local museologist said January 8.

Deputy Director of the provincial museum Le Ba Hanh said the ancient coffin, which is 1.2m in width and 2.6m in length, was found along with three ceramic vases and three small ceramic cups, in in Cam Xuyen District's Cam Huy commune.

The vases and the cups date back to the 15th century and 16th century, respectively, Hanh said, citing initial archeological reports.

According to the deputy director, the coffin was found by the locals while they were doing irrigation works on the field.
