Binh Dinh police take in coral smuggler

Police in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province January 26 seized 10 tons of coral that was being smuggled in a car on National Highway 1A.

Luong Anh Tu, 41, of neighboring Khanh Hoa Province, who was carrying the illegal consignment, was taken in. He told the police he bought the coral in Van Ninh District in Khanh Hoa.

Coral is listed as endangered in Vietnam and its harvest is prohibited.

Last month the Quy Nhon traffic police caught another man carrying 10 tons of coral from Ninh Hoa District in Khanh Hoa.

The police are investigating both cases.
