City customs warn against software installing fraud

The Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has denounced people going to companies to install software used for e-customs and demanding payment as fraud.

It said that the software and documents for the purpose are distributed free or can be downloaded from its website at www.haiquan.hochiminhcity.gov.vn.

No one is authorized to install the software and collect fees, it said, adding companies should immediately tell the police about such instances.

Following similar incidents recently, the General Department of Taxation ordered its subdivisions to look for people who reportedly purported to be tax officials and demanded money from companies.

They even threatened to revoke companies' licenses if companies failed to turn up at the tax office with certain documents.
