Following the changes the Ministry of Transport announced February 17, people riding electric bikes too will have to wear crash helmets from July 1.

People driving cars, tractors, and specialized vehicles should not have more than 500 milligrams of alcohol in 100ml of blood or 0.25mg/liter of air.

Pedestrians, contraptions and specialized vehicles, and motorcycles with a top speed of below 70km/h are prohibited from using highways.

Two adults cannot be accompanied by a person aged over 14 if on a motorbike and seven if on a bicycle.

The amendments, passed by the National Assembly last November, will take effect in July.

Minister of Transport Ho Nghia Dung said his ministry would draft other legal documents required to guide their implementation.
