Reports from the ministry's Forest Ranger Department Sunday said that the house was like a wine cellar with numerous bottles of all sizes containing snakes lying on shelves and on the floor.

There were also big aquariums in which two meter long pythons were preserved in a mixture of wine and medicinal plants.

The inspection team seized 118 copperheads, one wild cat, one reticulated python, two python molurus, two boxes of pangolins (scaly anteaters), four boxes of iguanas and two bear heads. Most animals had been killed and preserved in wine.

All seized wild animals have been delivered to the Wild Life Rescue Center in Soc Son District of Ha Noi.

The suspect, Can Thi Hoa, 41, allegedly stated that she had made snake wine and wine of other kinds from wild animals to supply to medicinal wine shops nationwide.

The investigation continues.
