A Californian court has sentenced Vietnamese-American Nguyen Tan Vinh to 14 months in prison for plotting to bomb Viet Nam’s embassy in the Philippines in 2001.
Vinh admitted using a false passport to enter Manila with plot to carry out an act of terrorism on Vietnamese government facilities. He also confessed to testing bombs in Manila and attempting to illegally take bomb parts into Viet Nam.
Although being convicted in the US, Vinh will also face additional charges in the Philippines for terrorist activities.
Vo Van Duc, Vinh’s accomplice, was sentenced 12 years in prison by a Bangkok court last month for plotting to bomb the Vietnamese embassy in Thailand in 2001.
