The five heads of the Colony Invest fraud ring are to be transferred to Ha Noi for sentencing, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The five defendants include Diep Dung Trung, Ly Hue Quyen, Tran Ke Minh Ha, Vu Thi Thu Hang and Nguyen Da Thu who have all confessed and returned some of the money they stole from investors.

Investigators were able to retrieve over VND10 billion (some US$625,000) from the 14 defendants involved in the fraud.

The remaining defendants will be kept in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Thap Province for further investigation.

In related news, before being summoned by local police, Vu Duc Tho, one of the head members of vip_viet.com fraud ring, tried to divide VND500 million of his illegally-obtained money and send it to a variety of different locations. But Tho’s scheme was discovered after he tried to send the first VND100 million to one of his relatives.

Tho’s company was found to have stolen about US$115,000 from its victims.
