An additional six suspects were captured and indicted yesterday for their connection with the Colony Invest fraud ring, raising the total to 13 defendants.

The six suspects are Nguyen Da Thu, Nguyen Cat Bien, Tran Tieu Linh, Diep Dung Trung, Ly Hue Quyen and Tran Ke Minh Ha.

Except Bien, the new detainees represent the heads of the online fraud ring in Viet Nam, those who established their own agencies to defraud unsuspecting investors in nine cities and provinces in the country. Each received 20 percent from deposits taken from “clients”.

A couple, Nguyen Trung Quan and Le Thi Mong Thu, was also arrested for tricking thousands of farmers in the southern province of Dong Thap into depositing their money through the fake website.

Recent reports from police have it that the fake Colony Invest Management Inc (C.I) also used other websites to trick investors including www.callysinvest.com, www.money100.us , www.c-invest.com , and www.vip-viet.com.

The exact number of C.I victims is not yet known but it is estimated that up to 65,000, most farmers.

The online fraud was also found to have an international element, Tran Tieu Linh, one of C.I’s head members, who learned her fraud tactics from a conspirator from Cambodia. June last year, Tran Tieu Linh, Nguyen Da Thu and their co-conspirators attended a conference on online investment through Colony’s website in Thailand and joined the fraud ring one month later.

Dang Thanh Hai, the Colony’s website administrator, has been put on the police wanted lists for crashing the website callysinvest.com and running away with investors’ money.
