Chinese Premier Wen to visit Europe: foreign ministry

BEIJING, Jan 20, 2009 (AFP) - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will next week travel to Europe, the foreign ministry said Tuesday, his first visit there since China postponed a summit last year with the EU amid a row over Tibet.

Wen will from January 27 to February 2 visit Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Britain, as well as the European Union's headquarters in Brussels, ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told reporters.

In Switzerland, Wen will attend the annual Davos gathering of the world's political and corporate elite, Jiang said.
