A cache of drugs found by HCMC police, reportedly belonging to a group who illegally re-branded the pharmaceuticals to sell at higher prices

The Investigative Police Bureau in Ho Chi Minh City has issued a warrant for the arrest of Viet-Phap Joint-Stock Pharmaceutical Company Director Huynh Ngoc Quang and 13 of his accomplices for making and selling fake drugs.

The 13 others include Nguyen Minh Phung, Nguyen Van Ket, Huynh Van Tien, Ho Thi Kieu Hoanh, Ho Tan Hoang, Le Minh Binh, Nguyen Huu Dung, Le Dinh Tuan, Nguyen Duy Quoc, Vu Quoc Binh, Vu Van Ngoc, Nguyen Minh Thanh and Nguyen Van Phung. 

The group is accused of purchasing domestically manufactured drugs from pharmaceutical companies nationwide including HCMC’s districts 10 and 11. They reportedly ground up the drugs and repackaged them with foreign-imported labels to sell at higher prices. The medicines were sold under brand names including Vastarel, Nimupas, Terneurin, Becozumy, and Fugacar.

Police have searched the homes of the accused in HCMC’s districts 3, 7, 9, 10, 11, Binh Tan, Tan Binh, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc, and seized a large quantity of fake medicines and manufacturing equipment.
