Dr. Nguyen Van Chau, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, advised passengers who arrived on certain flights from Canada, Australia, Thailand, and the US together with infected passengers to report to local medical workers if they have symptoms like fever, sore throat, and aches.
Ho Chi Minh City leads the country in the number of patients with 25, followed by the southern province of Dong Nai with six, and the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre with four.
Besides other delta provinces, the central province of Khanh Hoa and Hanoi have also reported cases.
It is significant that many of the affected people traveled aboard the same flight or contracted the disease from relatives.
The World Health Organization announced that by June 17, 94 countries and territories around the world have reported 44,287 cases of A/H1N1 flu, including 180 deaths.
There has been an increase in outbreaks of the disease in many countries, including in the Southeast Asian region. |
