| Blacklisted Soy Sauce Factories Must Close: Official |
|
| Hundreds of bottles of soy sauce in black list are removed from shelves in supermarket. |
Health Minister Tran Thi Trung Chien yesterday sent a dispatch asking relevant authorities to carry out tests on the 3-MCPD level and quality of all local soy sauce and oyster oil factories, possibly closing those that fail to meet the safety requirements.
The HCMC Health Department was asked to carry out intense investigations on other remaining sauce factories, impose appropriate punishments on those who have violated the laws and, most importantly, reform its own investigation system.
In order to complete the disposing of the toxic products, Long An, Binh Duong, Hai Phong and Lao Cai officials requested a full list of the blacklisted soy sauce producers yesterday.
On the same day, Binh Phu Metro reportedly withdrew and disposed of all their Miwon soy sauce products.
The HCMC People’s Committee has also guaranteed that the public will soon have access to the detailed information related to the 3-MCPC level test results and the investigation progress.
In June, further investigations will be carried out on all sauce factories on a nation wide scale.
