Conjoined Vietnamese Twins Die

The conjoined twin girls, born with two heads but only one heart, died of respiratory problems and severe pneumonia on Monday, only 19 days after their birth in Ha Noi.

The twins

From birth, the outlook for the twins had not been good, the pair had been born with two heads, necks and spinal columns but only two lungs, two legs, one heart, one liver and one set of genitalia.

The twins were the first baby girls for their 28-year-old mother who works as a teacher in the northern province of Hai Duong.

Doctors at the National Pediatrics Hospital planned to conduct surgery to try to help the twins but unfortunately they were thwarted by the conjoined twin’s deteriorating health.
