British punk band to play HCMC

The Melodramas, a British punk band, are set to play the Apocalypse Now club in Ho Chi Minh City on February 4.

                            The Melodramas

Established in 2008, the four-member band shot to fame when they joined a British tour of the aging punk rock troupe, the New York Dolls in December 2009.

Popular Vietnamese rock bands including Microwave and UnlimiteD will also join the Melodramas.

Microwave features a modern rock style and rose to prominence with two hit songs, Chi la giac mo (Only Dream) and Tim lai (Take back), burning up the local airwaves.

UnlimiteD, meanwhile, is a power-metal band famous for the single Hon vong phu (The Waiting-for-Her-Husband Stone/The Rock of Expectation) and a song about the devastation of Typhoon Chanchu in 2006.

The show is part of a musical event titled “Tiger Translate 2010.”
