Three Miss Worlds on charity mission

Miss World 2004, Maria Julia Mantilla Garcia, arrived in Vietnam on June 3 for a charity tour “Dau chan tu thien” (Footprints of Charity), held by the U.S based Rare Antibody Antigen Supply.

On June 4, Miss Garcia joined two other Miss Worlds, Miss World 2006 Tatana Kucharova and Miss World 2008 Ksenia Sukhinova, and Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy.

They took part in an antique vehicle parade in Hoi An.

Miss Sukhinova left the group after the motorcade and flew to Indonesia for the awarding ceremony of 2009 Miss World Indonesia. She will then return to Vietnam with the winner for a charity concert at Nha Trang on June 7.

Miss Garcia and Miss Kucharova will travel to Da Nang for two charity events: inaugurating 50 social houses built by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and presenting 100 gifts, worth VND50 million (US$2,850), to poor families.

In the evening on June 4, the two Miss Worlds will be the special guests at a music show, “Festival Di san van hoa the gioi” (World Cultural Heritage Festival), at My Son Temple in Quang Nam Province.

On June 5, they and the RAAS delegation will continue their charity trip to Hue. The delegation will present 100 scholarships, worth VND10 million (US$570) each, to poor students.
