Nation’s “Tallest” Pottered Vases to Raise Money for Poor

Artisan Le Minh Ngoc

Artisan Le Minh Ngoc, a potter of Bat Trang pottery village, is donating a pair of giant pottered vases for an auction to raise money for the poor, reports the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

Each 170-kg vase measures 3.2 meters in height and almost a meter across. They are purportedly the tallest flower-vases nationwide and cost tens of thousands of US dollars.

US Finances Primary School Project in Ben Tre

The Ben Tre Agent-Orange/Dioxin Victim Association held an reopening ceremony for its Chau Thanh district Quoi Thanh Primary School. The school was upgraded and expanded at a cost of some VND194 million (US$12,000) provided by the US-based Viet Nam Relief Effort.

Ben Tre Province is one of the 22 cities and provinces most intensely sprayed with the deadly defoliant dioxin, as Agent Orange, during the US invasion of the nation just four, five decades ago.

Fundraising Concert Supporting Disadvantaged over Tet Holidays

The “Green Forever Concert” is being held in Ha Noi over January 7 to 8 with ticket sales and donation going to a fund for Agent Orange victims.

The concert is to introduce masterpieces of famous composers, including Brahms, Liszt and Dvorak performed by the Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra and French pianist Michel Bourdoncle under the baton of Japan’s Honna Tetsuji.
