Airbus to manufacture components in Vietnam

Airbus, one of the world’s leading commercial aircraft manufacturers, on April 23 announced it has selected the Nikkiso Vietnam Company as a manufacturer of its components.

Nikkiso Vietnam, based in the northern province of Hung Yen, will manufacture composite vertical bars and armor plates of Sharklet, the winglet on A320 aircraft.

It will undertake sub-contracts with the Korean Air Aerospace Division (KAL-ASD), the main supplier of Sharklet.

With around 4,280 A320 airplanes being sold to airlines around the world, the new Airbus industrial work package will ensure long-term contracts for Nikkiso Vietnam.

Airbus Executive Vice President for Asia Jean-Francois Laval said Vietnam’s aviation market has been growing fast, with great potential in developing the aviation and aerospace industry.

He further said he hopes the work package will further tighten the relations between stakeholders as well as benefit the country’s aviation industry in the near future.

Airbus specialises in modern and comprehensive product line with successful families of aircraft ranging from 100 to more than 500 seats, including single-aisle A320 Family; the widebody, long-range A330 and A340; all-new next generation A350 XWB Family; and the double-deck A380 Family.-VNA
