Beverage maker ordered to destroy expired flavoring

Vietnam police and Binh Duong Province's Market Monitor Bureau have ordered Binh Duong-based juice and beverage maker Tan Hiep Phat to destroy 9.9 tons of expired flavoring.

The head of the bureau, Nguyen Van Ban, said at a press conference held by the Vietnam Alcohol, Beer and Beverage Association on June 23 that the police had found the company using expired flavors, and relevant agencies carried out checks which confirmed it.

The company also had in stock 6,200 kilogram of juice of guava with falsified expiry dates and the authorities have sealed its warehouse.

A spokesperson denied, however, the company had falsified labels.

Inspectors from the HCM City Department of Health took samples of Number One Soya, Tra Xanh Khong Do green tea, and Khong Do barley tea made by the company on June 22 from the market for tests.

They all met legal chemical criteria.
