Plants for cosmetics, toiletries go on-line at IZs

The US’s Colgate Palmolive Vietnam on Nov. 17 inaugurated and put into operation its toothpaste plant in My Phuoc 3 industrial park, in the southern province of Binh Duong.

Apart from the toothpaste brand Colgate, the factory will produce toothbrushes and toothbrush accessories for domestic consumption and export to more than 30 countries. The US$40 million factory is expected to provide more than 1,200 jobs for local people.

Also the same day, a US$20 million medicinal food and cosmetics factory was inaugurated in Dai An industrial zone, in the northern province of Hai Duong.

The factory, which was invested by China’s Tianshi group, will supply its products for domestic consumption and export to the Eastern European and Asian markets.

Covering 30,000 square meters, the factory, which is China ’s first foreign direct investment project implemented in Dai An industrial zone, is expected to generate jobs for nearly 1,000 local workers.

Established in March 2003, the 664-ha Dai An industrial zone has attracted 36 projects with a total investment capital of US$540 million from 10 nations and territories.
